Muerte de 5 bebés provoca retiro del mercado de los columpios Fisher-Price Snuga – Nacional

Health Canada, U.S., and Mexico issue joint recall for Fisher-Price Snuga Swings after five infant deaths

Health Canada, in collaboration with the U.S. and Mexico, has issued a recall for multiple models of Fisher-Price Snuga Swings due to a suffocation hazard, following reports of five infant deaths. The agency highlights that if these swings are used for sleep or have bedding material added, the headrest and body support insert on the seat pad can heighten the risk of suffocation. Fisher-Price has received five reports of infant deaths linked to the use of the swing for sleep as of October 7, as stated in the Health Canada notice.

This joint recall involves 12 models, including individual swings and «cradle ‘n swing» models, impacting consumers in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. The entire list of affected models and their corresponding model numbers can be found on Health Canada’s recall website, with the model number located on the underside of the swing motor compartment.

If you own one of the recalled models, it is crucial to discontinue its use immediately and remove the headrest and body support insert from the seat pad. Health Canada advises cutting the tether to detach these parts and states that once this is done, the product can be safely used again. Additionally, consumers can contact Mattel to receive a partial refund for the removed components of the swing.

Approximately 99,000 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between 2012 and 2022, with 2.1 million sold in the U.S. and 400 in Mexico. This recall seeks to prevent further incidents of suffocation and protect the safety of infants using these swings for their well-being and security.

It is essential to prioritize safety and follow the instructions provided by Health Canada and the respective agencies involved in the recall to avoid any potential risks associated with using these Fisher-Price Snuga Swings. Awareness and swift action are key in ensuring the protection and welfare of infants who may be using these products.

Remember, your child’s safety is paramount, and taking immediate precautions as suggested by the recall notice can help mitigate any potential hazards. Stay informed and stay safe.

Let’s work together to prioritize the safety and well-being of our children.
